EXPRESSION THROUGH FASHION BY LILY SLOAN

EXPRESSION THROUGH FASHION BY LILY SLOAN

Everyone has something that makes them tick. To me, that something is .

As a little girl, I loved putting on my mother’s high heels and looking in the mirror; I couldn’t stand the feeling of disappointment when I would see gap between my foot and the back of the heel, representing the many years I would have to grow before being able to wear such magical shoes.

A few years and awkward haircuts later, I now have plenty of my own magical shoes (that actually fit). I never imagined that those moments in my mother’s closet would develop into a much deeper passion and eventually a co-major. Nowadays, nothing beats the feeling of inspiration I get when flipping through the pages of Vogue or putting on a piece of clothing that I feel a real connection to.

I feel lucky to share a passion with creative visionaries such as Alexander McQueen and Coco Chanel. McQueen’s ability to design couture pieces of clothing that helped to shape an entire industry and Coco’s iconic, bold personality inspire authenticity and bravery in my own actions. They are both examples of people who carved their own paths in life, which is something I hope that I am able to emulate in my own life.

Fashion has no limitations or boundaries. I like to think that my creative abilities and passion for the industry push me to push the limits in all aspects of my life.

Fashion is my self-expression.
