HOW TO “BECOME” CREATIVE BY ELLIE DIXON

HOW TO “BECOME” CREATIVE BY ELLIE DIXON

Before I began taking entrepreneurship classes, I would never have considered myself a creative person. My sister is an amazing artist, so it was easy for me to say, “My sister got all the creative genes!” While that was always said as a joke, I truly believed that I was not creative. By taking entrepreneurship at Miami, I knew I would be challenging myself. I thought that my teachers would not like me and that I would not succeed because I was scared they would see that I was not creative. What was surprising to me was that my teachers pulled creativity out of where I hid it in a dark corner of my brain and brought it to the surface. While I do not come up with the craziest ideas, or the most beautiful designs, I feel that I finally have tapped into my creativity. By keeping an open mind and letting the “magic” of the entrepreneurship program take its course, I opened myself up to a more creative mindset. I notice myself every day coming up with new ideas or thinking about things in a different way. I have a long way to go with my personal creativity but now I have some momentum. So, in short, open your mind and challenge yourself and your creativity could really prosper.
