EXPLORING THE WORLD IN A COLLEGE APARTMENT BY PAIGE MARTIN

While strolling through Kroger I came across yucca root. I had never seen or heard of this plant before, so naturally I was curious. I googled it quickly to see what it was used for and where it was from, basically it’s South Americas potato with toxic skinI ended up preparing Colombian sancocho in my little college apartment while listening to Columbian music via Pandora to help me get more into the feel of the culture.  I made way more than enough to share so I got to invite some friends over who helped me cook and make an evening out of it. We looked up videos to learn how to dance to the Columbian tunes we were hearing, had the sancocho and made some silly memories. While my friends all loved the sancocho I would have preferred chicken soup. It was not a meal I would make again, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a process or pattern I wouldn’t repeat. I love exploring and creating. Pushing my boundaries and expanding as a person makes me feel like I’m really living my life. In just the smallest ways we can all expand daily. Think about it. If I ate a new food every meal for the rest of my life I would still die not having tasted over half of it. There is so much out there in the world why would anyone limit themselves to chicken soup?
