MY CREATIVE DISCOVERY: I’M BI BY JAMIE SORDO

MY CREATIVE DISCOVERY: I’M BI BY JAMIE SORDO

I haven’t told many people… until now.  When I told the first people that I’m bi, they asked questions like:

All of my questions stem from the same root – curiosity – and creativity thrives on curiosity.  I knew because I was curious.  Curious enough to ask questions and curious enough to questions.  I questioned why losing a friend over it hurt so much, why I haven’t developed many relationships, why I was feeling different…  These questions led me to stories that others shared online – and with an open mind, I became more accepting of others perspectives and more curious about my own.

To discover myself, I had to be passionate about the challenge.  I had to silence my voice of judgment and chase the diverse experiences I eagerly wanted.  Knowing who you are is an important step towards living a creative lifestyle.  It allows you to live authentically – and creativity demands taking authentic risks into the unknown.  It’s about being okay with that uncertainty.  So, with a bit more experience and a lot more questioning, I’ve been able to attach a new label to a small aspect of my identity.

Today, I identify my sexual orientation as biromantic demisexual. I highlight the importance of mentioning, ‘today’, because I’m still in the process of discovering – and this process will continue to grow as long as I stay curious and continue asking questions about myself and the world surrounding me.

Now that I’ve shared a personal discovery on my creative journey and have ‘come out of the closet,’ it’s your turn to find your creative path… to ask your questions, to take your risks… and so I ask you:

Have a Happy Valentine’s Day, creative friends!
