LIFE OVER PAR BY PAUL JOHNSON

The game of golf is not typically thought as of a “creative” game.  People might think of golf as a boring game played by older individuals for money.  People might see golf as a game of hitting shots in one particular way, or just making a good score on a hole, but they don’t usually think about how much creativity actually goes into the game of golf.

For example, the dress of not only myself, but of professional golfers such as John Daly and Rickie Fowler, is a small reflection of the creativity in the game.  Additionally, the way shots are pulled off….like Bubba Watson’s Masters clinching shot on the 10th hole at Augusta National… is another reflection of creativity.  Golf truly is a game of creativity–even though they don’t seem like a likely pair, they are more highly linked than you think.

Golf is my outlet for expressing creativity. Through my personal clothing style, and by letting my own ideas and thoughts guide the way I attack each and every hole, I find that golf is a creative expression of myself.  My imagination starts where the fairway ends, as I think of creative ways to get around each and every hole.  I like to radiate my own creativity with my clothing styles, both on and off the golf course. Where most players wear a professional’s style, I always choose to wear the bright colors with non-matching shoes and embroidered and/or colored shorts, creating a creative style on the course.  I like to be my own person and I’m able to do that through my clothing choices.  I also like to get creative on the golf course through the ways I attack the course, hitting different shots from every angle, because I think my creativity shines when I see alternative ways to get things done.

The best choice isn’t always the safest or most obvious choice, but it’s about your creative drive to achieve it.  If you see me on the golf course, look out for a creative golfer, the imagination in my shots, and the passion and fun that radiates from my game.

Most people believe that golf is a sport for old men, but if they see how it provides creativity and inventiveness, they might think it’s a sport for them.
