NAILED IT BY NATHANIEL LIESCH

Have you tried balancing on a makeshift rickety 2×4 twenty feet in the air while attempting to nail that same 2×4 into a structure that creaks and shifts in the smallest of breezes?

Because it’s pretty scary.

But that’s why you do it.

The story you have to share is well worth the risk. So take it.

My story took me on a trip to Ghana, Africa where we completed a design+build project in Abrem Essiam, a village about an hour’s drive north of the coast. For twenty days, we worked under hot sun and pouring rain in order to construct the design that the village had landed on.

This trip though, meant more to me than just a project. It was a chance for me to accomplish things that I might never get to try again. Opportunities that presented themselves may never happen again, so I was determined ot take the chance.

So if you think climbing some poorly crafted rafters was nothing, I recommend a swimming race in crocodile infested waters. Or maybe try and fail so many times to shimmy up a palm tree and cut down a coconut. Or try crazy exotic foods that set your mouth on fire.

Each experience opened my mind up to doing the next one to the point where I had no fear. My voice of judgement was silent, and I was able to see what every new situation or problem offered: a chance to grow.

So never let an experience pass you by. It will open your eyes to new opportunities to grow. You will not regret it and the reward will outweigh the risk.
