CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE BY KATIE KOPAN

We have a tendency to make snap decisions. We listen to our VOJ when it comes to taking risks and failing because we know it saves us from embarrassment. We think doing what’s “good” is good enough and will let us slide by.

We ask questions without waiting for an answer. We think asking someone how their day was will somehow drive a connection. We lose our humanity the second we start the conversation because our minds begin to wander until we hear what we want to hear.

We lose our ability to focus on what’s important. We hear something in class, write it down and go through the motions -  but only if we feel like it. We think we’re invincible because we know how to bullshit our way through an assignment but don’t consider the consequences.

We become deceptive. We identify our professors’ preferences and find ways to manipulate our responses to be what they want to see. We aren’t producing original work because our classmates and search engines are so much quicker. We locate the first right answer, click submit, and never look back.

State your truth. Live your brand. Make your statement. Embody your why.

We aren’t put on this earth to follow in each others’ footsteps. We’re here because we choose to be. We’re the ones who determine our destiny.  Everyday I embrace my four truths. Are you?
