CHARGE YOUR CREATIVITY BY CHI PHAM

Creativity is not hard. Sitting down to be creative is hard. And choosing to turn off your creativity to charge it is harder.

Sometimes, we just want to be creative and produce brilliant ideas. A lot of us think that the more invested we are, the more likely we are able to tap into our creativity. We view ourselves as this infinite idea machine.

However, this is not always the case.

I found out that I work best when I rest best. If I show up tired and groggy, my ideas aren’t going to be that great, no matter if I sit down for 5 hours or 10 hours. But if I have good sleep and wake up energized, I can produce much better ideas in a shorter amount of time.

A good sleep improves my internal social psychological press significantly.

Re-examining your press and finding out when you work best can boost your effectiveness and prevent creative burn-outs.

Getting sleep doesn’t apply to everyone but I encourage you all to find your recharge activities and give your creativity some energy!
