CHOOSE WISELY, FRIENDS BY BECCA PRANGLEY

Every path, every journey and every change in life happens because of a previous choice made. There’s always a choice, whether it’s your choice, realities choice, another human being’s choice or a choice of science.

I am a junior captain on Miami Universities Women’s Swimming & Diving team. I’ve undergone two knee surgeries, five cortisone shots, three years of rehab, 14 dry knelling sessions, years of graston treatments and countless tears over the past four years of my life. 

The reason I’m choosing to share these deep, personal and painful experiences is because a majority of those were a choice I made. My initial knee surgery took place and was necessary if I ever wished to swim again. It was my choice.  

Every single choice I made following that had reason. That reason was clear to me at the time, and it was division I college athletics. 

I wouldn’t wish chronic knee pain on anyone. But, it’s a choice I make every day of my life to be able to do what I love. 

Understand that there is a choice behind it all. Choose wisely, friends.
