HOW I DESTROYED CREATIVITY BY ALEX KALIX

HOW I DESTROYED CREATIVITY BY ALEX KALIX

My baby sister just turned four. These four years of her life have been a whirlwind of creativity… new things to touch, taste, smell, throw… so many new things. My father travels quite frequently for work, usually 300+ days per year, leaving me to usually play the “father.”

Don't touch that… I say. Don’t put that in your mouth, it’s too hot… I warn. Don’t smell that, it reeks... I urge. Don’t throw that because it will hurt them… I demand

Looking back on these past four years, I have helped to destroy her natural creativity and disguised it as trying to protect her from the world.

I WILL change my way with her whenever I’m home. I just hope it isn’t too late.
