MAKING YOUR OWN PATH BY ALLIE MEHELIC

MAKING YOUR OWN PATH BY ALLIE MEHELIC

We are so prone to constantly looking around us. What is she/he doing? How did they do that? How can I do that? Why am I not like that?

It is ingrained into our minds to follow society, and there are several reasons as to why this is detrimental:

1) Because of the reliance on others this creates. We begin to rely on others to decide what to wear, what classes to take, where to eat, what to do on the weekends, and how to treat others. Trends become the best of us. We become heavily influenceable. We become so afraid to take the path less traveled. And slowly…

2) When forced to internalize we are left clueless. We have depended on others for so long to define our lives that we have lost sight of our individuality. We have missed out on taking those risks that could have been defining moments of our lives, just because we were so focused on following the path that was laid out in front of us.

So… start taking off the lens of society, and boldly choose to do things differently. Go to that coffee shop alone, take the path less traveled, invest time in your mental & physical health, & set goals to become the best version of yourself. Become your own trail blazer and life will take you to places and people you never would have imagined!

Don’t let yourself look back one day and realize you’ve missed out on who you could’ve been.
