PAINTING WITH CREATIVITY BY JACK HENRY

PAINTING WITH CREATIVITY BY JACK HENRY

This past summer I learned a plethora of lessons about creativity in the form of paint cans...

I had the amazing opportunity to work with Young Entrepreneurs Across America (YEAA) as a branch manager. YEAA allowed me to operate my own exterior painting business and feel what being an entrepreneur is like. They provided me the mentorship and tools to succeed as an entrepreneur, but also gave me creative freedom to run the business as I saw fit.

The whole summer I had to devise creative ways to reach more customers, solve operational problems, sell jobs, and motivate my workers. My favorite creative challenge was giving estimates to a variety of homeowners and creating a sales strategy on the fly. Some customers wanted facts about the process while others were more focused on the relationship they felt with me. Sales was a versatile and unpredictable challenge during my job and I had to utilize the creative skills I possessed to be successful. By the end of the summer I managed a $71,000 business!

Above all else though I learned that creativity is crucial in all aspects of life. No matter what experiences are in store for me in the future, creativity will always be present and needed.

Who would’ve thought painting houses could give me so much creative confidence!
