THE MENTAL LIMIT BY JACOB CRISSMAN

THE MENTAL LIMIT BY JACOB CRISSMAN

I have been swimming for longer than I can remember. Throughout my career, there has been one phrase my dad always repeats that is a motivator for everything I do. “When you’ve pushed yourself to your limit, when your mind tells you you can go no further, you are only at 80%. Once you push past the mental limit is when you can accomplish incredible things.”

As my swimming career has progressed, I’ve begun to realize the power this quote has. It motivates me to keep pushing forward even when my mind and body are telling me no more. I’ve come to see that this phrase has meaning outside of just swimming or even just athletics. In the context of entrepreneurship, there will always be somebody working towards a similar goal as you. The only way to break away from the pack is to push yourself past this 80% limit and discover new ideas. Work harder than the people around you, and you have the capability to achieve something amazing.
