For me, creativity always begins with a sparked thought or idea. Ideas always come to me when I least expect them: in the shower, on a hike, or in conversations with friends. No matter where I am, I write the problem, thought, or idea on a post-it note. I keep a stack of post-its wherever I am, and always put them on my ‘idea wall’ when I get home.

My creative struggle is getting back around to those ideas – specifically the ones I don’t think are good. What I have been doing lately is putting time stamps on my post it notes. This allows me to make sure I at some point ideate on every thought bubble I have.

Time stamps lead me to discover that the ideas I didn’t think were good enough and was shutting down could sometimes lead to my biggest discoveries. I work every day towards my creative struggle and as a result have had more productive and successful ideation sessions. What is your creative struggle and how do you work towards fixing it?
