THE PROBLEM WITH GIVING A SHIT BY TYLER CAMPBELL

Sometimes you just can’t, it’s tiring, and frankly a bit boring.

However, everyday we live our lives caring so much about what other people think. We wanna fit in and be unique. But we aren’t; really we aren’t that different from anyone else on earth.

Think about how many people have you’ve read about, or seen on TV, or heard a story from that you can relate to? At least one? Well hot damn that means someone out there is kinda like you in some way or another.

I’ve recently been thinking about the fact that this isn’t important. You don’t need to be special to have value, you don’t need to be perfect to be successful, all of your fuck ups aren’t really that big of a deal. 

What you said to that middle school crush that keeps you up at night isn’t memorable, flunking a course or two in high school didn’t matter as much as I thought it would, wearing a crown to feel like a king at festival didn’t change my life.

So I’m embracing this theory of not giving a shit, look at old people they get away with it. But I’m not gonna fall into a trap of never giving a shit.

You have to choose what you give a shit about. That frees up your shits, your damns, your fucks of all kinds, and even your rat’s asses for more important things. I can wear what I want, and be who I want as long as it has integrity. 

And

With that power I can focus energy on things I want to give a shit about, and succeed far better in those pursuits. So fuck it, let’s all give a couple less shits about stupid things, and give a couple more damns about what really matters.
